WhatsApp Cloud API is now available for use in Turkey

A new era is beginning for businesses!

In today’s rapidly evolving world of technology, the platforms that businesses use to interact with their customers are constantly undergoing changes. The latest example of this evolution is the opening of WhatsApp Cloud API for use in Turkey. As of May 15, 2024, businesses in Turkey can now directly access the WhatsApp Business API service through Meta.

What is Cloud API?

WhatsApp Cloud API, also known as the WhatsApp Business Platform, is the cloud-hosted version of the WhatsApp API. Meta provides this service on its own cloud servers. Initially, Meta offered the WhatsApp On-premises API, which businesses could host on their own servers.

However, accessing the on-premises API was a time-consuming process. It took time for API updates to become available to businesses, and some businesses couldn’t afford the costs associated with this process. Therefore, Meta decided to offer the WhatsApp Cloud API as a faster and more cost-effective way for businesses to obtain the WhatsApp API.

What are the differences between WhatsApp Cloud API and WhatsApp On-Premises?

The key differences between WhatsApp Cloud API and WhatsApp On-Premises API mostly occur in the background and do not directly impact end-users. However, they can affect businesses in several ways, such as access to the API endpoint and the speed of receiving API updates.

WhatsApp Cloud API, being hosted by Meta, provides businesses and Business Solution Providers (BSPs) with free API access and enables faster implementation of software and security updates.

WhatsApp On-Premises API, on the other hand, is a system where BSPs host and maintain the API themselves. Any updates need to be manually implemented, potentially leading to delays in accessing the latest WhatsApp API updates.
